rndNotSupportedField

Module: CISCOSB-rndApplications

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-rndApplications::rndNotSupportedField

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.35.2.9.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Variable for not supported simulation.

What is rndNotSupportedField?

This read-only INTEGER is a placeholder variable used specifically to simulate a MIB field that the device does not actually support. A test engineer uses it to verify that management applications correctly handle or report on unsupported objects rather than crashing or misbehaving. For example, polling rndNotSupportedField during a compatibility test confirms whether an NMS gracefully reports "not supported" instead of erroring out.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.35.2.9.1.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCOSB-rndApplications::rndNotSupportedField

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.35.2.9.1.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCOSB-rndApplications::rndNotSupportedField.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> rndNotSupportedField.1
