Module: CISCOSB-rndApplications

OID (symbolic): CISCOSB-rndApplications::rndAlarmEnabling

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.6.1.101.35.2.2.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Indicates whether alarms should be issued to the high-level NMS

What is rndAlarmEnabling?

This read-write INTEGER (enabled/disabled) controls whether the Mid-Level Network Management application on the device is allowed to send alarm notifications up to a higher-level NMS. An admin disables this when a device is undergoing planned maintenance to avoid flooding the NMS with expected alarms, then re-enables it afterward. For example, setting rndAlarmEnabling to disabled(2) during a firmware upgrade window prevents nuisance alarms from reaching the central monitoring station.
