This read-only field indicates whether the source address in a combined-table source-specific membership entry is IPv4 or IPv6. An administrator uses this to correctly interpret the source-address field when tracking source-filtering across both protocol families in one table. For example, this field reporting ipv4 for a row tells the admin the paired source address represents an IGMPv3 source, not an MLDv2 one.
