cwCommCPUTotalUsage

Module: CISCO-WBX-MEETING-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WBX-MEETING-MIB::cwCommCPUTotalUsage

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.809.1.2.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Gauge32

Access: read-only

Description: This object provides the total percentage of CPU usage of a host component. The total CPU usage contains CPU user usage, CPU system usage and CPU nice usage. The CPU user time: CPU time spent in user space. The CPU system time: CPU time spent in kernel space. The CPU nice time: CPU time spent on low priority processes.

What is cwCommCPUTotalUsage?

This read-only Gauge32 (0-100 percent) reports the total CPU usage of a WebEx host component, combining CPU time spent in user space, kernel space, and on low-priority (nice) processes. An admin watches this as the primary at-a-glance CPU load indicator for capacity and performance monitoring of the WebEx server. For example, an admin seeing cwCommCPUTotalUsage sustained near 100 percent would investigate which of the more granular usage categories, like user or system time, is driving the load.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

Start monitoring Cisco WebEx collaboration hosts with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the CISCO-WBX-MEETING-MIB::cwCommCPUTotalUsage OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any Cisco WebEx collaboration hosts from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select a Cisco WebEx collaboration host as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type cwCommCPUTotalUsage into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. This object provides the total percentage of CPU usage of a host component. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Gauge32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if utilization exceeds 85%, a common warning threshold before sustained high load affects performance. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
