This counter measures the cumulative response bytes saved on cache-hit HTTP transactions while the transparent cache profile operated in basic mode. It shows an administrator how much WAN bandwidth basic mode's stricter, RFC-2616-compliant caching is actually able to offset. For example, a relatively small byte count here compared to the advanced-mode counter would confirm that basic mode's conservative caching rules are saving less bandwidth than a more aggressive profile would.
