This gauge reports the maximum number of cache resources — files and directories — supported by the CIFS AO cache, regardless of how large those resources are. An administrator can use it to understand the resource-count ceiling of the cache, which is a separate constraint from the raw disk-space limit reported by cwoAoCifsxStatsMaxCacheSize. For example, a workload with many small files could hit this resource-count limit and start evicting entries well before the disk-space limit is reached.
