OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-ANNOUNCEMENT-MIB::cwAnnPreferenceCodec

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.150.25.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: AnnCodecType

Access: read-write

Description: This object records the codec to be used for playing Announcements on an unconnected TDM endpoint.

The default will be 'g711u' for a T1 Media Gateway Card, or will be 'g711a' for an E1 Media Gateway Card.

What is cwAnnPreferenceCodec?

This read-write value configures the codec used to play announcements on a TDM endpoint that isn't currently connected to a call, defaulting to g711u on T1 cards or g711a on E1 cards. An admin cares because this default announcement codec must match what the rest of the trunk expects, and using the wrong codec for the card's regional trunk type could cause playback issues. For example, on an E1-based Media Gateway Card deployed in a region expecting A-law audio, the admin would confirm this is set to g711a rather than the T1-default g711u to ensure announcements play correctly.
