aal2ProfilePreference

Module: CISCO-WAN-AAL2-PROFILES-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-WAN-AAL2-PROFILES-MIB::aal2ProfilePreference

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.150.17.1.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: This object is used to configure the preference of one profile over another. A profile with a preference of zero (0) means that this profile element will not be used. A non-zero value with a lower number has a higher preference. The range of writable values is limited to the number of profiles, which means the number of rows in this table.

If two or more entries has the same preference number then the first entry in the table will be used.

The default preference for each profile will be as follows :

itu 3 = 1 itu 7 = 2 itu 2 = 3 itu 1 = 4 itu 8 = 5 custom 100 = 6 custom 101 = 7 custom 110 = 8 custom 200 = 9 itu 12 = 10 custom 201 = 11 custom 210 = 12

What is aal2ProfilePreference?

This read-write value configures the preference ranking of one AAL2 voice profile relative to others, where zero means the profile is unused and a lower non-zero number indicates higher preference. An admin managing voice-over-ATM gateway cards uses this to control which coding/packetization profile the system prefers when multiple profiles could apply to a call, directly affecting voice quality and bandwidth usage decisions. For example, an admin wanting a high-quality but bandwidth-heavier codec profile used first would set its preference to a low non-zero number while setting a fallback profile's preference higher.
