cvIfCfgEchoCancelWorstERL

Module: CISCO-VOICE-IF-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-VOICE-IF-MIB::cvIfCfgEchoCancelWorstERL

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.64.1.1.1.1.13

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The object specifies the worst case Echo Return Loss for which the echo canceller must operate. To some echo cancellers this object may not apply. This object is valid if the cvIfCfgEchoCancelEnable object is 'true'. echoCancellerWorstERL6dB - 6 decibels worst case ERL. echoCancellerWorstERL3dB - 3 decibels worst case ERL. echoCancellerWorstERL0dB - 0 decibels worst case ERL. echoCancellerWorstERLUnknown - the object does not apply to this echo canceller. The default value of this object is echoCancellerWorstERL6dB unless echoCancellerWorstERLUnknown is appropriate because the echo canceller is not configurable by this object.

What is cvIfCfgEchoCancelWorstERL?

This read-write INTEGER specifies the worst-case Echo Return Loss the echo canceller must be able to operate against (6dB, 3dB, 0dB, or unknown), valid only when cvIfCfgEchoCancelEnable is true, and it may not apply to all echo canceller hardware. Administrators tune it to match the actual worst-case echo characteristics of the connected circuit, ensuring the canceller is configured for realistic (rather than overly optimistic) echo conditions. For example, on a circuit known to have poor echo return loss, an admin would set this to the 0dB worst-case option so the canceller is configured to handle the harshest echo scenario expected.
