vmVlanType

Module: CISCO-VLAN-MEMBERSHIP-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-VLAN-MEMBERSHIP-MIB::vmVlanType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.68.1.2.2.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The type of VLAN membership assigned to this port. A port with static vlan membership is assigned to a single VLAN directly. A port with dynamic membership is assigned a single VLAN based on content of packets received on the port and via VQP queries to VMPS. A port with multiVlan membership may be assigned to one or more VLANs directly.

A static or dynamic port membership is specified by the value of vmVlan. A multiVlan port membership is specified by the value of vmVlans.

What is vmVlanType?

This read-write INTEGER tells the switch whether a port's VLAN membership is static, dynamic (via VQP queries to a VMPS), or multiVlan (assigned to more than one VLAN directly). An administrator sets this to choose how a port gets its VLAN: hardcoded once, learned automatically from traffic and VMPS responses, or manually mapped to several VLANs at once. For example, setting a port to dynamic(2) lets a VMPS server decide its VLAN based on the MAC addresses seen on incoming frames.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.68.1.2.2.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-VLAN-MEMBERSHIP-MIB::vmVlanType

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.68.1.2.2.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-VLAN-MEMBERSHIP-MIB::vmVlanType.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.68.1.2.2.1.1.1 i <value>
