cvifBindingIfIndex

Module: CISCO-VIRTUAL-INTERFACE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-VIRTUAL-INTERFACE-MIB::cvifBindingIfIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.648.1.2.2.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InterfaceIndexOrZero

Access: read-write

Description: This field is supported only when Virtual Interface Groups are not supported, as indicated by the cvifGroupsSupported MIB object. It identifies the ifIndex of the interface that this virtual interface is bound to. In order for a virtual interface to become operational, in the absence of Virtual Interface Groups, binding to an interface is mandatory. When the virtual interface is not bound to an interface, this field has a value of zero.

What is cvifBindingIfIndex?

This read-write value, applicable only when Virtual Interface Groups aren't supported, names the ifIndex an individual virtual interface is bound to, with zero meaning unbound. An admin cares because in that non-group mode, binding is mandatory for the virtual interface to become operational, so a zero value directly explains why it's inactive. For example, on a device without Virtual Interface Group support, setting this to a physical interface's ifIndex is the step that makes the virtual interface operational.

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-VIRTUAL-INTERFACE-MIB::cvifBindingIfIndex

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.648.1.2.2.1.5.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-VIRTUAL-INTERFACE-MIB::cvifBindingIfIndex.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.648.1.2.2.1.5.1 s <value>
