OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.719.1.53.9.1.37

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: CucsVnicVirtualizationPreferenceType

Access: read-only

Description: Cisco UCS vnic:Ether:virtualizationPreference managed object property

What is cucsVnicEtherVirtualizationPreference?

This read-only CucsVnicVirtualizationPreferenceType value reports the virtualization preference (for example, standard vNIC vs. VM-FEX passthrough) configured for this vNIC. This setting determines whether that vNIC's traffic is switched by the adapter itself (VM-FEX) or by the hypervisor's virtual switch, which is central to diagnosing performance or visibility differences between VMs on the same host. For the vNIC named 'eth0' on service profile 'SP-WEB03', pinned to fabric interconnect A with a 9000-byte MTU, this OID reporting a VM-FEX preference would tell an admin that vNIC's VM traffic bypasses the hypervisor's software switch and is switched directly on the adapter.
