This value reports the interface type of the physical Fibre Channel endpoint representing one FC-facing port on the fabric interconnect, together with the neighbor device it discovers on the wire, further classifying the kind of Fibre Channel interface this endpoint is. An administrator inventorying fabric-interconnect hardware uses ifType on this PhysFcEp instance to distinguish between different interface variants without having to physically inspect each port. For example, ifType lets automated compliance checks flag any Fibre Channel endpoint that does not match the interface type the switch model is supposed to have.
