This gauge reports the chassis identifier of the neighboring device that the physical Ethernet endpoint representing one Ethernet-facing port on the fabric interconnect, together with the neighbor device it discovers on the wire discovered on the far end of the link. An administrator mapping cable connections end to end reads peerChassisId on this PhysEtherEp instance to confirm which remote chassis a given local port is actually connected to. For example, a peerChassisId that does not match the chassis an operator expects to be cabled there is a strong sign of a misconnected or mislabeled cable.
