Because this SPAN destination endpoint is the destination endpoint of an Ethernet monitoring (SPAN) session -- the port that receives the mirrored traffic, an admin or a management script needs this DN to unambiguously pick out that one instance among possibly many similar objects elsewhere in the chassis or fabric. For example, after spotting a problem via this OID an admin could paste the returned DN into the UCSM CLI's 'scope' command to jump directly to that object instead of hunting for it in the tree.
