This is the count of dedicated hot spare disks the Disk Group Policy reserves exclusively for this one disk group's RAID set. A dedicated hot spare only steps in to rebuild a failed drive within this specific group, rather than being shared across the controller, so this number tells the admin how much spare capacity is locked to this policy versus available elsewhere. A policy might set this to 1, meaning if one drive in the group fails, that reserved spare rebuilds automatically without touching drives assigned to other disk groups.
