An admin needs this to correctly interpret those aggregate values, since a count of 1 means the average is really just the last raw sample while a higher count means it's a genuine rolling average. If this reads 12 for a fan reporting a speed average, the admin knows that average smooths over 12 sampling periods rather than reflecting one instant.
