This is the archived highest speed the fan reached during the interval that history row represents. It preserves evidence of a brief speed spike -- such as a short thermal event -- even in an interval whose average speed looked unremarkable. A historical max of 10500 RPM in a row where the average was only 6800 shows that fan briefly worked much harder than its average suggests.
