Category: Cisco Devices, RADIUS and AAA, SNMP Framework

Description: Declares agent capabilities for the Service Selection Gateway (SSG) subscriber policy engine for ISP environments.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-SSG-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-SSG-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module declaring which features of CISCO-SSG-MIB, covering Cisco's Service Selection Gateway (SSG), an ISP/subscriber-policy edge feature, a given agent implements. It belongs to the subscriber-management/service-selection technology area but contains no runtime monitoring objects of its own. As a pure conformance module it cannot be polled for uptime, CPU/memory, or any operational counters; it exists solely so a network management system can determine which SSG capabilities a device's SNMP agent supports before attempting to configure or poll the real CISCO-SSG-MIB objects. It is entirely dependent on the companion CISCO-SSG-MIB, which is the actual data-bearing module for subscriber session and policy management. It applies to Cisco IOS platforms deployed as Service Selection Gateways in ISP access networks, where the CISCO-SSG-CAPABILITY reference tells an NMS which SSG features a given agent actually supports.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-SSG-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Service Selection Gateway (SSG) router

Monitoring Examples

This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it only tells an NMS which CISCO-SSG-MIB features the agent supports.
