Description: This object indicates the SSM capability of an input clock source configured for the T0 clock selection. This is applicable only to any synchronous interface clock source except SyncE interface, which is identified by cnsInpSrcIntfType 'netsyncIfTypeEthernet'.
What is cnsInpSrcSSMCap?
This object reports whether a given candidate clock source supports Synchronization Status Messaging (SSM), the T1/E1/SONET equivalent of ESMC for advertising quality level, applicable to non-Ethernet synchronous interfaces. It matters for the same reason ESMC capability matters on Ethernet sources: without SSM support, a T1/E1/SONET-derived source cannot dynamically advertise its own quality level, forcing the device to rely on a static configured value instead. An admin relying on a legacy T1 BITS feed for timing would check this to confirm SSM is actually being exchanged rather than assumed.
