sonetTributaryMappingType

Module: CISCO-MGX82XX-SONET-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-MGX82XX-SONET-MIB::sonetTributaryMappingType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.4.6.1.1.1.1.12

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Type of VT/VC mapping.

asynchronous: In this mode, the channel structure of the DS1/E1 is neither visible nor preserved.

byteSynchronous: In this mode, the DS0 channels inside the VC/VT can be found and extracted.

Default is asynchronous.

What is sonetTributaryMappingType?

This enumerated value selects whether the VT/VC mapping is asynchronous (the DS1/E1's internal DS0 channel structure is neither visible nor preserved) or byteSynchronous (individual DS0 channels inside the VT/VC can be located and extracted), defaulting to asynchronous. An admin cares because byte-synchronous mapping is required if downstream equipment needs to cross-connect or drop individual DS0 channels out of a T1/E1 tributary, while asynchronous mapping treats the tributary as an opaque bit stream. For example, a circuit that needs individual voice channels drop-and-inserted at an intermediate SONET node must use byteSynchronous mapping rather than the asynchronous default.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.4.6.1.1.1.1.12
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-MGX82XX-SONET-MIB::sonetTributaryMappingType

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.4.6.1.1.1.1.12.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-MGX82XX-SONET-MIB::sonetTributaryMappingType.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.4.6.1.1.1.1.12.1 i <value>
