An operator would use this after confirming a repair (say, replacing a failing transceiver) so the day's error tally reflects only post-fix behavior when generating an end-of-day availability report for a customer. If a fiber cut caused thousands of CVs and a handful of UASs before being spliced back together at noon, clearing this right after the splice lets the remaining half of the day report cleanly instead of being permanently skewed by the outage.
