cwSonetSectionCurrentStatus
Module: CISCO-MGX82XX-SONET-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-MGX82XX-SONET-MIB::cwSonetSectionCurrentStatus
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.4.6.1.3.1.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: This variable indicates the status of the sonet section layer. The cwSonetSectionCurrentStatus is a bit map represented as a sum, therefore, it can represent multiple defects simultaneously. The sonetSectionNoDefect should be set if and only if no other flag is set.
The various bit positions are: bit 1 = sonetSectionNoDefect bit 2 = sonetSectionLOS bit 3 = sonetSectionLOF
What is cwSonetSectionCurrentStatus?
This bitmap integer reports which SONET/SDH Section-layer defects are currently active, with each bit position representing a distinct defect (e.g., bit 2 for Loss of Signal) and the sum of set bits forming the reported value; sonetSectionNoDefect is set only when no other defect bit is set. An admin cares because a nonzero, non-'no-defect' value here means the section layer itself has a live physical-layer problem (like LOS) that will cascade into failures at every higher layer (line, path) on this interface. For example, a value with bit 2 set indicates Loss Of Signal is currently active on this section, which explains why every downstream path on the same interface is also failing.
