This is an action object -- setting it to clear(2) resets every Current 15-minute counter for this SONET path (ES, SES, CV, FC, UAS) back to zero without waiting for the natural interval rollover. An admin uses it right after resolving a fiber or connector fault so the current-interval counters reflect only post-repair behavior instead of carrying forward the error burst that already triggered the trouble ticket. For example, after re-seating a loose connector that caused a burst of coding violations, setting this to clear(2) immediately zeroes the current FCs counter and its siblings so the next SNMP poll shows a clean baseline.
