cwSonetLineCurrentStatus
Module: CISCO-MGX82XX-SONET-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-MGX82XX-SONET-MIB::cwSonetLineCurrentStatus
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.351.110.4.6.1.4.1.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-only
Description: This variable indicates the status of the sonet line layer. The cwSonetLineCurrentStatus is a bit map represented as a sum, therefore, it can represent multiple defects simultaneously. The sonetLineNoDefect should be set if and only if no other flag is set.
The various bit positions are: bit 1 = sonetLineNoDefect bit 2 = sonetLineRcvAIS bit 3 = sonetLineRcvRDI bit 4 = sonetLineXmtAis bit 5 = sonetLineXmtRdi
What is cwSonetLineCurrentStatus?
This bitmap integer reports which SONET/SDH Line-layer defects are currently active — such as received AIS (Alarm Indication Signal) — with each bit representing a distinct defect and sonetLineNoDefect set only when nothing else is. An admin cares because Line-layer defects like AIS typically mean an upstream problem (often at the Section layer or further upstream) rather than a fault local to this line segment, helping direct troubleshooting toward the right point in the SONET path. For example, seeing the AIS bit set here while the Section layer reports no defect at all suggests the AIS is being received from further upstream rather than generated locally.
