Description: Defines textual conventions for Cisco software image management MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-IMAGE-TC?
CISCO-IMAGE-TC is a textual-conventions-only MIB defining shared data types used by Cisco's enhanced software image management MIBs, covering concepts such as Base Image and MBI (Minimum Bootable Image). It belongs to the software/image-management area of Cisco's MIB family rather than any specific hardware technology. Because it only defines types and no managed objects or tables itself, it has no directly pollable runtime data, but the conventions it defines underpin other MIBs' software-version and boot-image status reporting, which is used to monitor which OS image or version a device is running. Other Cisco image-related MIBs directly depend on the textual conventions defined here as their common data-type foundation. It is used behind the scenes on any Cisco platform running the enhanced/modular software image model, wherever image inventory or boot status is reported via SNMP, since the CISCO-IMAGE-TC MIB defines the shared types other image MIBs depend on.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IMAGE-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco devices using the modular/enhanced software image model
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only TEXTUAL CONVENTIONs, such as image-type enumerations for Base Image and MBI, and has no tables or scalar objects of its own, so there is no direct monitoring scenario; its types are consumed by other Cisco image MIBs that do expose pollable image-status objects.
