Module: CISCO-IETF-PW-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-IETF-PW-MIB::cpwVcSetUpPriority

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.106.1.2.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-create

Description: This object define the relative set-up priority of the VC in a lowest-to-highest fashion, where 0 is the highest priority. VCs with the same priority are treated with equal priority. Dropped VC will be set 'dormant' (as indicated in cpwVcOperStatus). This value is significant if there are competing resources between VCs and the implementation support this feature. If not supported or not relevant, the value of zero MUST be used.

What is cpwVcSetUpPriority?

This defines the relative set-up priority of the VC in a lowest-to-highest fashion where 0 is the highest priority, VCs with equal priority are treated equally, and a dropped VC is set dormant per cpwVcOperStatus; this value is significant only if there are competing resources between VCs and the implementation supports the feature. It is the priority used when this pseudowire competes with others for scarce PSN resources during signaling, so a VC with a higher-priority, lower-numbered value can preempt a lower-priority one for the resources it needs, and a VC that loses that contention gets marked dormant rather than failing outright. For example, a pseudowire carrying premium voice traffic configured with setup priority 0 could successfully signal and claim bandwidth on a congested PSN link even while a best-effort VC configured at priority 7 gets bumped to dormant status for lack of available resources.
