entSensorThreshNotifGlobalEnable
Module: CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB
OID (symbolic): CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB::entSensorThreshNotifGlobalEnable
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1.3.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: TruthValue
Access: read-write
Description: This variable enables the generation of entSensorThresholdNotification globally on the device. If this object value is 'false', then no entSensorThresholdNotification will be generated on this device. If this object value is 'true', then whether a entSensorThresholdNotification for a threshold will be generated or not depends on the instance value of entSensorThresholdNotificationEnable for that threshold.
What is entSensorThreshNotifGlobalEnable?
This is a master on/off switch: when false, the device suppresses all entSensorThresholdNotification traps regardless of any per-sensor threshold configuration; when true, it defers to each threshold's own entSensorThresholdNotificationEnable setting. This matters operationally because an admin who carefully configured individual temperature or voltage thresholds on specific sensors will get zero alerts if this global switch is left false -- a common root cause behind 'why aren't my alarms firing'. For example, a chassis with a properly configured high-temperature threshold on its power-supply sensor will stay completely silent during an overheat event if this object is set to false, even though the per-sensor config looks correct.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1.3.1 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB::entSensorThreshNotifGlobalEnable
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1.3.1.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB::entSensorThreshNotifGlobalEnable.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1.3.1.1 s <value>
