cadpStatAdminActivePhy

Module: CISCO-ATM-DUAL-PHY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-ATM-DUAL-PHY-MIB::cadpStatAdminActivePhy

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.60.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: InterfaceIndex

Access: read-write

Description: Returns the ifIndex of the phy which is the preferred active phy. A value of 0 indicates that no phy is currently active.

Setting this object to a value different from its current value causes the ATM module to make the indicated phy active, and the active phy inactive.

Setting this object to its current value has no effect.

After performing the phy change, the agent will update all phy information (including cadpStatOperActivePhy) and send a ciscoAtmDualPhyChange trap.

What is cadpStatAdminActivePhy?

This read-write object reports, and lets an operator set, the ifIndex of the phy that should be the preferred active one; writing a different ifIndex here causes the ATM module to actually make that phy active and the other inactive. Because this triggers a real hardware switchover, it's how an operator manually forces failover between the two redundant phys, for instance ahead of planned maintenance on whichever phy is currently active, and traffic will briefly interrupt while the module reprograms itself. An admin changing this from ifIndex 5, the working fiber, to ifIndex 6, the protect fiber, before maintenance on port 5 should then see cadpStatOperActivePhy read back 6.
