cApsConfigSwitchoverEnableInterval

Module: CISCO-APS-EXT-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-APS-EXT-MIB::cApsConfigSwitchoverEnableInterval

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.72.1.2.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-create

Description: This object specifies the value of the timer to control the minimum interval between switchovers. After a switchover, APS is re-enabled only after this amount of time has elapsed, in order to prevent quick successive switchovers.

What is cApsConfigSwitchoverEnableInterval?

This sets a cooldown period, in seconds, during which APS switchover is disabled immediately following any switchover event, specifically to prevent the system from rapidly flip-flopping back and forth if the underlying fault condition is itself unstable or flapping. An admin tuning this trades off protection responsiveness (a shorter cooldown lets the system react to a genuinely new fault sooner) against stability (a longer cooldown prevents oscillation from a flaky link). For example, setting this to 30 seconds means that after any switchover, the device will not allow another APS switchover for the next half-minute even if conditions change again in that window.
