cigDhcpClientsDefaultRouterTrackId

Module: CIG-CLIENTS-MIB

OID (symbolic): CIG-CLIENTS-MIB::cigDhcpClientsDefaultRouterTrackId

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6889.2.1.17.1.1.1.20

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: Bind the status of the DHCP default router to an object-tracker by specifying the ID of the object-tracker (avstrTrackerId in AVAYA-SAA-TRACK-MIB). A value of 0 means that the default router is not bound to any object-tracker. A value of 0xffffffff is notSupported feature for the relevant default router.

What is cigDhcpClientsDefaultRouterTrackId?

This binds this interface's DHCP-received default router to an SAA (Service Assurance Agent) object-tracker instance defined in the separate AVAYA-SAA-TRACK-MIB, letting the device actively probe reachability of that gateway and take tracker-driven action, like a route failover, if the gateway stops responding, rather than passively trusting a DHCP-assigned gateway that might silently become unreachable. An admin wanting proactive detection of a dead DHCP-provided gateway, rather than waiting for a lease expiry or routing timeout, would configure a tracker in AVAYA-SAA-TRACK-MIB first and then reference its ID here to link the two together. For example, setting this to the ID of a tracker that pings the gateway every few seconds would let the device detect and react to a silently-dead gateway far faster than it would otherwise notice through normal DHCP lease mechanics.

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CIG-CLIENTS-MIB::cigDhcpClientsDefaultRouterTrackId

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.6889.2.1.17.1.1.1.20.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CIG-CLIENTS-MIB::cigDhcpClientsDefaultRouterTrackId.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.6889.2.1.17.1.1.1.20.1 i <value>
