Description: The number of RADIUS packets which were received from this server on the authentication port and dropped for some other reason.
What is cienaCesRadiusUserLoginAcctPacketsDropped?
This counter tracks RADIUS packets received from the login/accounting server that had to be discarded for a reason other than a malformed packet, bad authenticator, or unknown type already counted elsewhere. On this device, a climbing value here alongside normal-looking accept/reject counters is a red flag that something between the client and the RADIUS server (an MTU mismatch, a corrupted UDP packet, or a firmware bug parsing a vendor-specific attribute) is silently eating replies without producing a specific error to point to. For example, if this counter jumps from 0 to 40 over a week while the AccessAccepts counter stays flat, an admin would suspect packet corruption or truncation on the path to the RADIUS server rather than a credentials problem.
