This value sets how many seconds the 802.1X RADIUS client waits before retransmitting an authentication request that hasn't been answered by this server. Setting it too low against a WAN-connected server can trigger needless retransmissions and duplicate Access-Request counts during normal latency spikes, while setting it too high against a local server delays how quickly a supplicant's port-based authentication fails over to a backup. For example, 3 seconds is reasonable for a RADIUS server on the same LAN, but an admin authenticating 802.1X clients across a satellite link might raise it to 10-15 seconds to avoid flapping retransmissions.
