What is cienaCesRadiusDot1xAuthRetries?

This defines how many retransmission attempts the switch makes to a given 802.1X RADIUS authentication server before it marks that server unreachable and gives up. Because the range tops out at only 3, this cap directly limits how long a supplicant's authentication attempt hangs before the client fails over to the next configured server in priority or load-balance order. For example, with the timeout object at 5 seconds and this set to 3, a dead RADIUS server costs a supplicant up to about 15 seconds of delay before the switch moves on to a backup server.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CIENA-CES-RADIUS-CLIENT-MIB::cienaCesRadiusDot1xAuthRetries

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.3.3.1.1.4.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CIENA-CES-RADIUS-CLIENT-MIB::cienaCesRadiusDot1xAuthRetries.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.3.3.1.1.4.1.2.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> cienaCesRadiusDot1xAuthRetries.1
