Because accounting typically generates a start record, periodic interim-update records, and a stop record per session, this counter grows faster and more continuously than the authentication Requests counter, so an admin should expect a different baseline growth rate between the two rather than treating a divergence as automatically abnormal. For example, a single long-lived 802.1X session with hourly interim updates over an 8-hour shift would generate roughly 10 accounting requests counted here, versus just 1 request on the authentication side for that same session's login.
