Description: The max greylist timeout for a RADIUS Dot1x Acct server between 1 minute and 4 hours.
What is cienaCesRadiusDot1xAcctGreylistTimeout?
This sets the maximum time, from 1 minute to 4 hours, that an unresponsive 802.1X accounting server is skipped before the switch retries sending accounting records to it. Because accounting, unlike authentication, doesn't block a user's network access, an admin might be tempted to set this longer than the equivalent authentication greylist timeout to reduce retry chatter, but doing so extends the window during which session accounting data for that server is simply not being delivered anywhere. For example, setting this to the maximum 14400 seconds (4 hours) means that after one failure, this accounting server won't be retried for a full workday, potentially losing four hours of session records if no backup accounting server is configured.
