A nonzero value here on this element usually indicates a port-role misclassification, where a port meant to face subscribers was accidentally configured or learned as a multicast-router port. For example, if an access port serving 30 IPTV subscribers is mistakenly flagged as a router port after a configuration change, every one of those subscribers' joins would start accumulating on this counter instead of being processed normally.
