Description: The total number of messages discarded by the router. This happens when a join comes in from a router port.

What is cienaCesPmIGMPTotalStatsBinIgmpnumRouterDiscards?

This counter tracks IGMP join messages that the switch's router-side IGMP logic discarded because the join arrived on a port already identified as a router port, which is topologically invalid since routers don't send end-host joins on router-facing interfaces. A nonzero value here on this element usually indicates a port-role misclassification, where a port meant to face subscribers was accidentally configured or learned as a multicast-router port. For example, if an access port serving 30 IPTV subscribers is mistakenly flagged as a router port after a configuration change, every one of those subscribers' joins would start accumulating on this counter instead of being processed normally.
