For example, a total that jumps by several thousand frames in one day because of a burst of ARP or DHCP broadcast traffic, such as from a rogue DHCP server or a bridging loop, and then stays perfectly flat for months afterward even through a Stats-bin clear, tells you that particular broadcast flood was a single past incident already resolved, rather than something still actively happening today.
