This counts Severely Errored Seconds at the ODU (Optical Data Unit -- the inner G.709 container that carries the actual client payload): seconds where the error rate on the mapped client payload crossed the severe threshold, per the MIB's description. SES at the ODU layer means the client signal riding this container was briefly unusable, which is the number a service-level report for whatever traffic (e.g. Ethernet or SONET) is mapped into this ODU would actually cite; as a 'total' bin it never rolls over on its own the way the 15-minute and 24-hour bins do -- it only resets on an explicit clear or a card reset, so a high count here just reflects long uptime, not necessarily an active problem. For instance 2 severely errored seconds in this bin would be enough for a carrier-grade circuit to flag the interval for review, whereas a run of zeros across consecutive bins is the normal expectation for this kind of port.
