Description: This object defines the way in which the data is used by the Alert TCA feature for the PM instance. This specifies the way in which the statistics samples are handled and the way in which the alert basis and threshold values are interpreted.
When bitsPerSecond is specified, the data is intended to represent a throughput as a rate of data in bits per second. When analyzing samples for the Alert TCA feature, the statistic value is internally adjusted so that it represents a number of bits. For example a statistic that represents a number of bytes is multiplied by 8 to determine the bit count. The statistic value representing bits is then compared to the boundary value derived from the alert basis and threshold values. The alert basis and threshold values are considered to be values representing data in bits-per-second and are not subjected to adjustment.
What is cienaCesPmAlertTcaUnits?
This setting decides whether the Alert TCA logic compares raw sample counts or a computed bits-per-second rate against the alert basis. That fundamentally changes what 'crossing the threshold' means for this PM instance: a burst of small packets versus sustained high-bitrate traffic. For example, set to 'bitsPerSecond,' a threshold of 500000000 means the alert triggers only when throughput sustains above 500 Mbps, not merely when a packet counter passes that number.
