This counter reports the total number of frames of ingress traffic on this element that matched the configured access/classification rule being measured here. Read alongside the matching TotalStats-bin AccessHitBytes counter, it lets you track whether the average frame size hitting this rule has changed over the element's uncleared operational lifetime, which a single recent 15-minute bin can't show you since that only reflects one narrow window. For instance, because this total survives a manual clear applied to the Stats-bin equivalent, comparing the two after a clear tells you whether the frame-size profile reset by that clear differs from the rule's true long-run average.
