Module: CIENA-CES-NOTIFICATIONS-CONTROL

OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-NOTIFICATIONS-CONTROL::cienaCesPortEnhancedLinkTrapState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.2.1.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: CienaGlobalState

Access: read-write

Description: This object indicates whether the device generates enhanced port link up and down traps.

What is cienaCesPortEnhancedLinkTrapState?

This read-write switch controls whether this device generates its 'enhanced' variant of port link-up/link-down traps, a richer notification format presumably carrying more detail than the standard link trap (see the sibling StdLinkTrapState object below). Enabling this lets a management system receive more granular link-state change information for every port, at the cost of additional trap volume the NMS must be able to absorb. An admin troubleshooting why their monitoring system isn't receiving the expected level of detail on port flaps should check whether this enhanced trap type, specifically, has been left disabled in favor of only the standard link traps.
