Module: CIENA-CES-NOTIFICATIONS-CONTROL

OID (symbolic): CIENA-CES-NOTIFICATIONS-CONTROL::cienaCesCfmFaultTrapState

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1271.2.2.1.1.1.21

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: CienaGlobalState

Access: read-write

Description: Setting this object to 'disabled' causes CFM fault traps to be suppressed.

What is cienaCesCfmFaultTrapState?

This read-write switch controls whether Connectivity Fault Management (CFM, IEEE 802.1ag/ITU-T Y.1731) fault traps are generated, and setting it to disabled explicitly suppresses them per the object's own description. CFM is the Ethernet-layer OAM mechanism used to detect connectivity faults between maintenance endpoints, so this trap is often the earliest and most direct signal of an Ethernet service-level connectivity problem, ahead of higher-layer symptoms. If a service outage is confirmed by other means but no CFM fault trap was received, checking whether this trap state has been disabled is a necessary step before concluding CFM itself failed to detect the fault.
