What is gponOnuSipPstnUserHookState?
This reports the live physical state of the handset -- on the cradle or lifted -- which a support tech checks remotely when troubleshooting a 'no dial tone' complaint. A reading of offhook(2) when the customer insists the handset is actually hung up points to a wiring fault or a defective FXS port on the ONU rather than a network-side issue. For example, this field stuck at offhook(2) despite the subscriber confirming their phone is on the hook would redirect the tech's troubleshooting straight to the physical wiring or the ONU's phone port hardware.
