Description: The logical slot number of this card. This is used as an index for the swTable. In redundant configurations, this can be the physical slot number of either redundant card. In non redundant configurations, this is the same as cardPhysicalSlotId.

What is swLogicalSlotId?

This value is the logical slot number of this card, per the description, used as the index into the swTable and, in redundant configurations, potentially differing from the card's actual physical slot number since either of a redundant pair may occupy this logical slot. This distinction matters operationally because in a redundant chassis the active and standby cards can physically swap slots during a failover while this logical slot ID -- and hence the identity used to reference this card in management queries -- stays consistent, which is exactly the abstraction an NMS relies on to keep polling the 'same' logical card across a failover event. In a non-redundant configuration this value simply equals cardPhysicalSlotId, per the description, so the distinction only matters once redundancy is in play.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.6.1.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CASCADE-MIB::swLogicalSlotId

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.6.1.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CASCADE-MIB::swLogicalSlotId.1
