svcConfigCgPtyInsertionMode

Module: CASCADE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::svcConfigCgPtyInsertionMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.5.2.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object determines whether a statically configured address shall be inserted in the calling party address IE for calls entering the network at this port.

What is svcConfigCgPtyInsertionMode?

This read-write enumerated value determines whether a statically configured calling party address is inserted into the calling party address information element for calls entering the network at this port, choosing disabled(1), insert(2), or replace(3), where insert presumably adds the configured address if none is present and replace overwrites whatever the originating device supplied. This lets the network enforce or override the calling-party identity presented for calls from a given port, useful for privacy, billing accuracy, or standardizing address formats across customer equipment that may present malformed or untrusted calling-party data. An engineer needing to guarantee a trusted calling-party number is always presented for calls from an unreliable customer device would set svcConfigCgPtyInsertionMode to replace(3) so the network's configured value always overrides whatever (possibly incorrect) address the device sends.
