This counter reports the number of SVCs currently present (established and not yet released) on this port at the moment it is polled, distinguishing it from the lifetime total in svcAtmConfigQ93bTotalConns. Because this is essentially the port's live connection count, it's the value an admin would alarm on to detect either an unexpected traffic spike or, more often, a 'stuck calls' leak where connections accumulate because RELEASE/RELEASE COMPLETE handshakes aren't completing cleanly. If a port normally carries around 200 concurrent SVCs but this value climbs to 2000 and stays there, that's a strong signal of hung connections rather than real growth in traffic.
