What is pportds1FDLControl?
This enables or disables the Facility Data Link (FDL) function on this DS1 ESF port. The FDL is the ESF framing overhead channel used to carry performance reports and messages between the two ends of the circuit, so disabling it on this specific port cuts off features like automated performance monitoring exchange (pportds1FDLPrmXmit) and path ID messaging with the far end. A carrier requiring FDL-based performance report exchange on a leased DS1 circuit would need pportds1FDLControl enabled on this port for that monitoring data to actually be sent and received.
