pportNumber

Module: CASCADE-MIB

OID (symbolic): CASCADE-MIB::pportNumber

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.277.1.4.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The number of physical ports (regardless of their current state) present at this node.

What is pportNumber?

This reports the total count of physical ports installed at this node, counted regardless of whether each port is currently up, down, or in testing. Because it counts installed hardware rather than active links, this value is what an admin cross-checks against provisioning records to confirm the chassis is populated with the card and port count that was ordered and installed. A node expected to have 32 T1 ports across its cards but reporting only 28 here would indicate a missing or unrecognized card.
