What is pportMaxBufferSize?
This sets the maximum receive/transmit buffer size configured for the ATM UNI DS3 I/O processor on this port. A larger buffer here lets this specific port absorb bigger traffic bursts before discarding cells, at the cost of added queuing latency, so it is a direct knob for trading off burst tolerance against delay on this DS3 circuit. Undersizing this buffer relative to the traffic mix on a heavily bursty DS3 uplink would show up as rising pportOutDiscardsCell on this same port during peak periods.
